Practice? We talkin’ about practice?

As Stephanie and I have discussed and as I wrote in my essays which will be judged along with the above video in the final round, if voted on by the public, of the YouTube Creator Institute competition:

I seek a career producing documentary projects that engage audiences and make an impact on global issues. My goal is to utilize media for research and social activism, doing so with all tools and media available, both traditional and emerging. My vision for documentary work is not solely creating a standard format film but presenting a full array of multimedia with an emphasis on online content.

What does this have to do with the YouTube Creator Institute?  Practice, to quote the great Charlie Sheen who quoted the great Allen Iverson. Practicing storytelling, production, and marketing. Practicing creating new and emerging forms of media content.

The YouTube Creator Institute is a new media school for aspiring content creators of all kinds, providing a unique new media education, hands-on technical training, and promotion needed to succeed in 21st century media.

We’re running these programs because we believe that the next superstars of music, film, comedy, animation, and whole new content genres are practicing their craft on YouTube today. Every day we come across extremely talented creators of all ages and from all walks of life, and we want to see them succeed and reach bigger audiences. The YouTube Creator Institute will send up-and-coming video producers to two of the US’s leading film and television schools for an advanced program to train alongside industry leaders, helping them take their skills to the next level.

Vote daily through Friday, April 8 to help in a huge way as the contest is not just about practice but also “winning” ;-)  Winning $12,000 in resources, including $11,000 for the value of the program and $1,000 for equipment, to develop The Story of Happiness and future documentary work.
