Through the fundraising challenge on GlobalGiving during the month of August, The Story of Happiness raised $5,133 and won $1,500 in bonuses for a total of $6,633. Thank you to everyone for your contributions. With over 60 donations and 250 comments, your support was overwhelming.
Competing against 24 other award-winning projects from the World Bank Institute program EVOKE, our initial goal was to raise $3,000 from at least 50 donors in August, making us eligible for three possible bonuses:
- Most funds raised: $1,000
- Most unique donors: $750
- Most unique comments: $750
We were primarily in contention throughout the challenge for the most comments received. Though we ultimately came up short, competing for this bonus helped raise funds by reaching for the goal of $3,000 from at least 50 donors. And as a result, we grew into contention for the bonus of having the most funds raised, which in the end we won with $5,133.
The challenge also involved collaboration among the 25 projects:
- When 15 projects each raised $30 from at least 5 donors and received at least one comment, the first 15 each received a $100 bonus.
- When 15 projects each received 10 comments, the first 15 each received $100.
- When 15 projects each raised $300, the first 15 each received $150.
Being among the first 15 for all three, we won $350 in addition to the $1,000 bonus above. After an additional bonus of $150 was given for having over 50 unique donors, the final bonus amount came to $1,500, bringing the the total raised to $6,633.
